The Session Starts on Wednesday-- some thoughts on staying connected

Happy New Year,

On Wednesday, the 9th, I’ll be sworn in as your new state legislator. When the session begins next week, I’ll be in Montpelier from Tuesday through Friday. I want to hear about your questions and your priorities. As the session moves forward, a number of bills and topics will make it to the headlines. Less flashy, but equally important, bills will also make their way through committees as they head for votes on the floor. If you have any questions about any topic under consideration at the State House, please reach out.

I know how hard it can be to follow the happenings of the legislature from down here so I’ll be holding monthly community conversations with Molly Burke and Tristan Toleno on the first Sunday of the month: February 3rd, March 3rd, April 7th, and May 5th. We’ll be shifting locations around town so please be in touch if you have a spot in mind. You can also find me for “office hours” at the Brattleboro Coop Cafe from 11am-noon every Saturday or through any of the follow media:

And finally, come visit! We call it The People’s House for a reason-- if there is an issue you care about be in touch and I can help you find the right time to testify. Many advocacy groups can even reimburse your travel expenses if it’s a cause they’re working on. Or just come for a tour and see your democracy in action.

Yours in solidarity, Emilie
